Artichoke Plate

this project was created as part of a mold course during my third year in Bezalel academy of Art and Design.
we were instructed to create a press mold for a big plate, and design the plate itself while inspired by the mediterranean cuisine.
the artichoke is not a new subject in the ceramic world, on the contrary, it is quite popular, and so to avoid repeating what was already done so many times, i've decided to approach it from a differed angle.
prior to taking up clay as a new medium, i was dealing with more classic mediums in the world of fine arts- oils, pencils etc.
and so i have to decided to get back into my comfort zone- the familiar pencil on paper zone.
i wanted to recreate the movement of a hand, its effortless flow.
recreating it with clay however- was anything but effortless.
it was a meticulous work that took hours and hours of work, the result however was exactly what i hoped i would achieve.
